First aid training provider, ECTEC, a not-for-profit organisation based in Cape Town, South Africa, became a supporter of Velokhaya in July 2011 when it agreed to provide much-needed First Aid training for Velokhaya members. The purpose of the training was to empower Velokhaya riders and staff to apply the appropriate assistance in the event of an injury at the Velokhaya BMX Oval or while cycling on the road.

Riis Cycling A/S was founded over ten years ago by 1996 Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis. Today Riis Cycling A/S is an international company with 65 employees from 14 different countries. Its team includes national, World and Olympic champions. Its structure, professionalism, and the quality of its individuals all contribute to the results it achieves. It has based its team on values, stressing the importance of teamwork, loyalty, commitment, respect and communication.
The relationship between Velokhaya and Riis Cycling began in 2007 when Riis Cycling managed Team CSC. Subsequently, Team CSC used its 2007 and 2008 Tour de France campaigns to raise funds which were put towards the building of the Velokhaya BMX Oval in Khayelitsha. In December 2006 Bjarne Riis brought his entire team to South Africa in support of the work of Life Cycling Academy.
