Khayelitsha cyclist selected for African Championships

Cyclist Songezo Jim, a member of the GT Velokhaya team, has been selected to compete in the African Championships, which will take place from 10 - 14 November 2010 in Rwanda.

The South Africa national team, which will depart on November 8, will also be competing in the tour of Rwanda, which takes place from 17- 25 November. The tour will comprise nine stages over 1,000 kilometers and include over 13 kilometres of climbing. Teams from South Africa, Mauritius, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, France, Holland and the USA are reported to have entered for the competition.

This is the third time this year that Songezo - who started cycling approximately five years ago - has represented South Africa internationally.
