Getting to know Monde:
I was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town on April 16, 1972.
I live in Thornton and am currently engaged - no children.
I cycle socially and rode my first bicycle at the age of seven.
I like cycling because of the challenge of beating long distances using your own strength and weaknesses.
I have learnt that everything has its own time, just keep working at it, whatever your passion is.
My hobbies are fitness training, gym and reading.
I was inspired by my late father. He studied and became an attorney under very trying circumstances at the time (during the apartheid era). He always did his best and made sure that we were never left wanting.
I would most like to meet Thabo Mbeki. Certainly far from infallibility, however I think he is a very intelligent person with a vision for Africa.
The best advice I ever received is to stay the course - a breakthrough will come with hard work.
I have been involved with Velokhaya officially now for about a year however I have known Amos from Gugulethu since we were kids.
In the LCA I am more passionate about road cycling and education as a development tool for kids. In addition to this I have also seen the potential of BMX track. I would like to see Velokhaya cyclists compete nationally and internationally with a credible sponsor sharing the Velokhaya brand.
My wish for the LCA is to have sufficient funding to meet its goals and realise the vision.
